Hey Andy-

Its been a few months since I’ve been in one of your classes and that is because I was abroad in India and Indonesia and upon returning to Boston bought a house….but sadly my new home is too far away from the gyms you teach at so its time for me to say good-bye…at least for now. I have tried to follow you as much as I could w/ your moves to various gyms over the last few years-but this time I just can’t do it L I have taken your classes on/off for the last four years and can not tell you what an impact you have had in my life. Your classes are amazing and so is your technique, dedication to your students, knowledge and way in which you motivate. I am so sad I will not be able to be a part of your corpbasics classes any longer- I would look forward to going to one of your classes at the end of an insane day and know I would walk away feeling fantastic physically and mentally.

I could go on and on about how wonderful your program is. If I ever happen to move or change careers-I will most definitely seek out your classes. I know I am not going to find anything close to your classes at any other gym-but I just want you to know that you have inspired me in a big big way and can not thank you enough.

So keep doing what you are doing….your truly are a guru!!

All the best-

anu

Hey Andy,

I'm a Watertown member and just googled to try and find the class schedule. Your website is really inspiring!! Congrats on your success. As a small business owner myself (producer, performing musician, and booking agent - you may remember blue eyes) I know how hard you work to make your dreams happen. Your classes are really good and have literally put Superfitness back on the map as a great place to work out. Very cool…. And thank you for adding Sunday classes…. If you have a second, check out my music - you may remember me from class. Thanks again - your website is really inspiring.

I have been attending Corpbasics classes for about a year now and proudly admit that I am totally addicted. I have never experienced a workout so fun, versatile, and intense, all at the same time. After a lot patience and hard work I am beginning to understand the "root" of the moves we do in class, and how and why Andy develops the different combinations. My challenge now is perfecting these moves and making sure each one is carried out properly, allowing my body to experience the full benefit of the workouts.

The first classes I attended were Abs and Cario Cuts. I found these classes easy to follow and a huge relief from the dreaded treadmill and elliptical machines. After some encouragement from others, I decided to give Cardiokix and Lian Jie a try. I will be the first to admit that there were many nights I wanted to run out of class, totally overwhelmed by the complexity and speed of the combinations. But I kept coming back, and with every class I saw myself improving. The mental challenge of learning the moves is just as difficult as the physical challenge. I believe that this is why the results are so profound and unlike any other workout I have ever tried.

About 4 months ago I decided to take my commitment to the next level and began training with Alyssa one night a week. I was surprised at the intensity of the workout - I couldn't believe the amount of weight that I was lifting. Although the equipment and techniques vary weekly, the focus is always a total body workout. Alyssa has taught me how to lift properly, and how to target and tone specific areas. Alyssa's encouragement and expectations keep me motivated to perform at my best.

With the combination of classes and lifting, I began noticing drastic results in my body immediately. My entire body has now taken on a toned and leaner shape. I am not one to step on a scale - I judge my weight by the way my pants fit me. Since I have started the Corp Basics program I have dropped 2 sizes, but more importantly I feel absolutely amazing. I am so proud of myself for how far I have come, and every week I am inspired to work harder.

I urge anyone who is thinking about taking new classes or working with a trainer to do so. It has changed the way I view "working out". Andy has developed an incredible program and I am so glad I finally "made the connection."

Hi Kristen!
tonight's classes were really good - crazy exhausting, but good...:) the new kix routine takes it up to a whole new level... i truly enjoy all of the Corpbasics classes offered at SFMalden, and you all are great, knowledgeble instructors. I'm looking forward to meeting Andy on thursday, as well as the new instructor(s) for those 3 classes. When i go to SFM, i want to work hard, get in a good workout, and have a good time doing it. All of the Corpbasics classes let me do this. Classes were great, but i'm sure that the new thursday schedule will be great also... - the classes that you guys run are consistently excellent, and as someone who "regularly" attends them, i hope that you'll pass on to Andy the fact that he (along with you all) have a great program going.thanks and have a great week!

Hello Andrew,
My name is Tatiana. In October 2005 I understood that it is time to take care of my health. I was 41 y.o and my weight was 148 pounds and had some hard problems. I decided to quit smoking and start doing some exercises. I didn't know where to start... I signed agreement with Malden Super Fitness and wasn't sure that it was for me.I was just paying monthly member's fee and I didn't want to cancel it because I new I will never return there.
One day (in February 2006 after 5 months) I met Kristen Mercier. She is the best instructor! I quit smoking and lost 14 pounds! I am very proud of myself what I done but I will never could accomplish it without Kristen. I feel younger, look younger!

Thank you very much for everything what you done for people!

Hi Kristen,
just a heads-up for you that I'm going to leave a present for you at the front desk when I go to the gym on Saturday. Please be sure to pick it up when you're there on Sunday.
Let me take the opportunity again to say how much I enjoy your class. I think that you are an excellent instructor and your attitude towards excellence is apparent in how you instruct. I'm motivated to improve my work-out just by watching you model the behavior. Thank you for assisting me to get back in shape and for showing me how to enjoy the pain as I work towards a more excellent body.

Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year!

Hi Andy;

After reading everyone’s emails; I decided I should be writing something about your classes too!!! I started back in March of this year…Boy was I afraid to walk into that class full of women who knew how to move…the steps, the clapping…the “shuffle, shuffle”…

My goodness, I never thought I would ever learn it!...I remember you coming up to me and telling me to “pace myself”! I was so out of breath, I thought I was going to die! It took a while for me to understand what you meant…Little by little I was able to learn most of the steps. Now I have an addiction to the gym and your classes…Yes…an addiction! That’s what my husband and kids say to me but you know what? It’s a good addiction to have…Anyway; for all the women out there who get discouraged the first few times…I just want to let them know to keep going to the classes…It helps you mentally and physically…You also get to meet people who like you share the same interests…It’s a lot of fun…Thanks Andy and to all the instructors for always making class so much fun…

Subject: Tuesdays class

Andy,

You told me to email you about the class...so hear you go. Nick was alright. He didn't go by the corpbasics training...but then I take it he is not a part of that. It was a kickboxing class that I could get at BSC...which is not very good I hear since you left. People in the room were yawning and I didn't leave the class feeling like I got a good workout. I liked Tuesdays being a good cardiokickboxing day but I don't feel like Nick is going to have that captive of an audience. He seems like a nice guy but I do really like the way you and your "team" runs the classes. Is there anyway you could get someone like Kim or another one of the girls that teach, that would come to the Tues classes until you come back...you are coming back when the wall gets knocked down right???

Well didn't want to complain but you said you wanted to hear.

I did say something to the front desk about the wall and he said it would be down by spring...whatever that means.

See you on Saturday in Watertown.

Liz

Hi, Megan Schaefer-curran

I wanted to let you know that I am really enjoying the Monday and Wednesday 6:30am kick boxing class. It provides some variety for my daily workouts. Since Super fitness offers more classes in the afternoon and evenings which do not fit in with my work schedule, I am interested to see if the gym could possibly add a third morning class to the schedule. I would love to see a Friday class at 6:30am. This is just a suggestion but I know some of the other girls that I work out with would also take advantage of the class. Thanks so much and thanks for being so energetic, encouraging and positive each morning we meet.

Hi Andy,

My name is Mary Ruberti and I attended your Cardio Factory class this morning for the first time. I really enjoyed the music and the variety of muscles that

you incorporated into the workout program. I of course was the only uncoordinated participant in the back, but I do promise that the more I go the easier the moves will come to me. If you can bare with me while I am learning, I do hope to attend at least 3 classes during the week. Do you reccommend any other classes that will prepare me for the two-hour class, to help me pick up some of the choreography? I do attend your cardio cuts class on Thursday as well and I enjoy that program just as much. I pologize for 'not respecting you' this past Thursday when I was quitting during the Abs class. I was still so sore from Alyssa's class two days before! It was really bad to quit right in front of you. I can tell you have a pretty loyal following and I can totally understand why. Your workouts are the only workouts that I leave feeling like my ass was kicked and I love it. I just wanted to say thanks to you and Alyssa!

See you soon in class,

Mary

Subject: Corpsbasics feedback

To Whom it May Concern: The purpose of this email is to provide my feedback and wishes for the corpsbasics classed provided by Megan Schaefer-Curran at the SuperFitness at Government Center. I have been taking corpsbasics classes at SuperFitness for over a month. In this short time, I have been taught by three instructors: Kim, Megan, and Elise. While all three are strong trainers and instructors, I have truly enjoyed Megan's morning classes. These classes are not only at the perfect time, but under Megan they are a perfect match for my physical needs. She is careful to check our form for every excercise and challenges us to push ourselves in both the cardio and the strength realm. I love these morning classes and am hoping that an a class on Friday can be added. I would love the opportunity to gain greater benefits with more time and pushing from Megan! These classes are the main reason that I am at SuperFitness!

Thank you,

Jenny O'Neil

After havening two children I never thought I could achieve a leaner fit body. Then I met Andy. I attended one of his classes when I first started back to the gym. During the class I thought I was going to die. But it became a routine for my children and me every week to go to the gym. A few months went by and I began to notice changes to my body. Then I started to add a few more of Andy's classes to my weekly routine. I've taken many different Aerobics, cycling, kickboxing classes but I've never been motivated to keep going. I have never seen changes to my cardio or muscle tone in such a short time. Andy is an incredible instructor he motivates the class as a whole plus goes to each person through the class and motivates at an individual level. Which I find it helps people get through the class. This helps me push myself to bring the workout to the next level. I always thought I'd never be able to reach my fitness goal. But as time went on you've motivated me into believing that I could reach the goal of becoming fit. I wanted to thank you for taking the time to show me proper form on certain exercises. For this I've benefited in my fitness level. Keep up the great work!!
Thank you again,
Stacey Horsik

Hey Andy, Fo' shizzle, your chi has a lot of power. When you came over to encourage me, my work out became a heck of a lot easier. 'Course then you left, and my feet dropped back onto the carpet making it more strenuous. Do most people who are disciplined in the martial arts have the ability to do that? Andrew Haynes is an amazing, powerful, and knowledgeable workout-man/trainer. In only two months of attending mostly his cardio classes I have felt a complete change. I have more strength, endurance and energy than ever before; a heck of a lot more than I got from other trainers. If my schedule permitted I would take all of his classes, which are so effective that I put a lot of my work aside in order to attend them. Andrew's whole technique is entirely different. He explains what certain exercises work what areas of the body and shows whoever is willing to listen and follow his advice how to do the exercises correctly so you don't hurt yourself. This class is great for both men and women and I wish more would realize this and take advantage of it.
Andrew is focused on helping everyone reach their goals instead of being like the many trainers I have gone to who are more focused on their own agenda than providing a good, effective workout because they stick with the same routine and lack understanding about different body types. Andrew always adds new routines and the classes fly by since you are enjoying yourself and getting results at the same time. Andrew is a unique and fun trainer who is serious about his job and determined to help those who are determined to help themselves.

2004 was the big birthday for me and that scared me, so I joined Workout World in Medford. My first day there I decided to attend Andrew’s class. At first I thought I was crazy because I had never worked out like this before and thought I would never commit. Andrew had proved me wrong. I had explained to Andrew my concerns and my weaknesses, which he took serious. With the encouragement Andrew showed along with his help by pushing me beyond what I thought I could do, I am happy to say I still attend and look forward to his classes 3x a week. The results are there and I feel great! Andrew is always making his class fun by changing his routine. He has a great sense of humor and is always giving the extra push where it is needed. Andrew is always taking the time to help make sure I am doing everything right so I do not get hurt. I feel grateful for Andrew’s help in making his class a part of my weekly routine.
Thank you Andrew for everything you have done.

THE DIFFERENCE
I have to admit that when I started taking classes with Andrew Haynes, I was very skeptical. I had been taking kick-boxing and muscle conditioning classes for months so when I heard that there was a new teacher at the gym, I was sure his classes would be easy for me. However, after taking one class with him, I was sore and frustrated. The steps were complicated and made me feel very uncoordinated, but the music was terrific and my more competitive side made me want to master his moves. In the beginning, everything was hard. His instructions for working with weights were different from anything that I had done before and they felt awkward and left me exceptionally sore. The kick-boxing classes were a series of complicated moves that I couldn't seem to do, no matter how hard I concentrated. On top of everything, the classes were very physically challenging. Slowly, over the next few weeks, I began to enjoy the classes. The muscle conditioning class helped me to get stronger and although the weights continued to be a challenge, I began to be less sore. Also, I noticed definite improvements with my muscle tone, especially my shoulders, triceps, and abs. The kick-boxing classes which combine dance with traditional martial arts, helped me lose 15 pounds in total. Andy made sure that my heart rate was constantly fluctuating during class by combining high intensity routines that left me breathless, with lower impact, repetitive moves that left my muscles burning. Gradually, as I became more coordinated, I began to enjoy the classes more and more until they became a way of life for me. I found that I was more agile and in the best shape I had been in since playing college sports. Using a combination of terrific music and interesting routines, Andy made the classes therapeutic for me. Finally, after months of working out with him, I met with Andy to talk about why his methods worked. One of the chief differences I noticed was that Andy instructed me to keep my elbows pointed at the ceiling when I do crunches so that my arms are almost wrapped around my ears. He explained that not only does this help to fully support your head so that you are not straining your neck, but also it helps to target your abdominal muscles. Also, he told me that when doing a push-up, I needed to keep my butt slightly raised in the air to protect my lower back and to spread my arms and legs out widely while keeping my head up. This helps to work the entire body. He also showed me that when doing jack-knives it is best to make sure that you do not start with your arms above your head. If you start by keeping them at your side, you avoid straining your lower back, while isolating your abs and leg muscles. Andy is careful to make sure that every aspect of his students form is in place. This creates a fantastic full body workout and he can whip absolutely anyone into terrific shape- even me.
