I've been a devoted Corpbasics follower for more than 10 years – I started out attending a weekly class taught by Andrew Haynes, which I found challenging yet fun. I had always attended the gym out of obligation not inspiration or fun, but the moves, the music and the motivational style of Andy and his instructors changed that. For the first time I found myself looking forward to the gym, and I steadily increased the number of classes until I found myself attending classes ~5 days a week and often more than 1 class a day.

For the first time I found myself looking forward to the gym, and I steadily increased the number of classes until I found myself attending classes ~5 days a week and often more than 1 class a day.
Through classes I noticed a difference in my stamina and physical fitness, but the biggest change came after Andy encouraged me to try personal training and connected me with my trainer, Erin McDonald,>5 years ago. I still remember how sore I felt after that first session and also how quickly I began to see results. Even without any significant changes to my diet, after a short time, I found myself needing to buy smaller sized clothes and noticing muscles that I had never seen before.
Erin can "read" her clients and sense just how much each individual can and should be "pushed" – her enthusiasm, positive attitude and feedback have encouraged me to work harder and to reach new limits of performance that I never would have thought possible. I was fortunate to be able to continue classes and training through a pregnancy, and Erin did a great job of adapting the workout so that I continued to feel challenged but never felt any worry about doing anything harmful or dangerous. After giving birth and receiving physician clearance to return to exercise, I went right back to training with Erin, and she helped me to get back into shape. I'm convinced that the classes and specifically training with Erin during after and pregnancy are what helped me to lose the baby weight relatively quickly. With my current schedule of juggling a full time job with parenthood, I'm not able to go to the gym as often as I'd like, but I still look forward to my 2x/week training sessions with Erin both for keeping me on track with fitness but also for the continuing the professional and personal relationship I've formed with her over the years. - Jen M
